Throughout history there's been a vast variety of music composed for choirs. It is my goal as a choir teacher to expose my students to as much of it as possible. Much of the African, Latin American, and Asian influenced music calls for percussion instruments that I'm asking for. With percussion instruments like the cajón (box drum), egg shakers, and the claves in my students hands will open the door to more music for us. The addition of these percussion instruments will take our school's choirs to the next level by allowing us to learn about and perform varied music genres. With the ability to add a variety of choral repertoire to our classroom, conversations about geography, history, language, culture, and much much more will be easily incorporated with a hands-on approach in my daily rehearsals.
