Students have a high interest level in Harry Potter and Percy Jackson series. Our students are primarily in low income homes and we are a 100% free lunch school. Classroom teachers are reading these as read alouds in the classroom and students would like their own copies to take home. If students have their own copies they will be able to carry the classroom learning back to their homes to keep a concrete connection of the story. The library is critical in supporting student’s love of reading. We reach out to our local public library for additional copies but still cannot keep up with the demand of student interest.
