My students are products of low-income families but their futures are so bright! I feel strongly that motivated students are born when they are loved, respected, and valued. In order for students to feel loved, valued and respected, they must feel as if they have been given top notch materials and that they are trusted enough to choose their seating around the room. In addition, in order for students to learn, they must be nourished. Brain function decreases when students are hungry. My students will be engaging in group work this year as well as having the opportunity to use flexible seating. Snacks will also be utilized throughout the day to keep students focused and motivated to learn and problem-solve. By donating to my project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement by way of increasing their motivation to work and learn. The products that I have selected will help my students be more comfortable around the room when they are able to choose their seating while working independently. The classroom rugs will help students feel more comfortable when they are working on the cold hard floors of our mobile classroom. Clipboards will be helpful when they are working in groups and writing all around the classroom. The snacks that were selected will definitely increase motivation for students because they will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not their hunger.
