Studies show that music enhances kids' development and cognitive skills, and what a better way to do such a thing than learning to DJ at our school. My students will learn about the importance of teamwork, problem solving, music theory, and math, all while creatively expressing themselves in fun and exciting ways. The makerspace is a perfect, and safe place for students to collaborate and share personal interests with others, all while also connecting on a different level/wavelength with their peers. The world is more than a computer/phone screen or what is in a book, it's out there to be grasped and enjoyed​ and creatively curated with the use of music. I want to empower my students and expose them to every possibility available. So if I do my best, they, in turn, will do the same because I am modeling behavior I want to instill in them. And what I want to instill is for them to be life-long learners.
