New Hampshire has recently passed Play-Based Kindergarten. This requires a lot of materials, Professional Development, and guidance that my budget doesn't allot for. The materials I’m requesting will allow me to set up areas in the classroom and let children explore the possibilities of who they could one day become. One of the materials that I have selected is dramatic play clothes. My hope is that this will provide them with the chance to explore the different possibilities of who they might grow-up to be. This will also allow them to have a better understanding of what our local community members do. A play kitchen and food and utensils are needed to complete the whole cooking experience. This will enrich their imagination and be able to act out a multitude of pretend play, such as restaraunt, home cooking, cafeteria, and more! Lastly, I’m requesting a puppet theater and puppets. My goal for this center is to build the imagination, team work, creativity, and communication skills. My students will have the opportunity to discover and build relationships with other students in the room who take on the same interests. Students will build life-long skills that are needed to be a successful adult, for example, working in groups, sharing, patience, understanding, communication, and much more.
