Students will create a model of how the Earth's atmosphere functions as they create a closed terrarium. They will observe how our atmosphere traps in the water and gases that enable it to thrive. They will also discover how easy it can be to damage this critical protection. Throughout this dynamic unit, they will discover how the water, plant and carbon cycles function. When students interact with and create living models, science becomes real to them. By the end of the unit, they will not only want to protect our environment, but they will also understand key principles that will enable them to do so.
