With 20% severe trauma in our district, all students are not equipped with all of the coping strategies required to meet the standards in the general education setting. I have chosen sensory lighting as our first stepping stone to the creation of a therapeutic haven where students will be able to use multisensory equipment in order to regulate their emotions. In turn, staff will be available to process with the student regarding the upsetting incident in order to teach cause and effect relationships. In time, behavior can transform and become appropriate in all settings, therefore setting our students up to be contributing members of society.
