We are teaching our students about animal defense mechanisms; how animals protect themselves from predators. This can be hard for them to relate to if they have never seen animals in person. During this outreach program, an educator comes into our classroom with 4 different animals of our choice. The students get to see and touch the animals and the outreach teacher brings in. The educator will explain how these animals defend themselves as well and how they survive in the wild. This provides the students with an up-close and personal learning experience. The students will then choose an animal of their own, and complete a research project.
