My classroom is full of students with special needs. Their basic needs go beyond food, clothing, and safety. These students have sensory needs! Sensory needs can be met through a variety of ways. Some ways these needs can be met include weighted objects, movement activities, hand fidgets, wiggle chairs, and noise cancelling headphones. I plan to create a sensory path within the school for students to meet some of their movement needs. The path will include jumping, carrying a weighted object, wall pushes, hopping on one foot, crawling, and hopscotch. These activities can help a student that is struggling to pay attention, regain focus.
