My students deserve the same resources and chance to make it as any other kids. By having basic supplies that other schools take for granted, like pencils, lined paper, and glue, we can strive to break the stereotypes and connotations already set by our geographical location and economical situation. Instead of trying to make due without, my students will have the same opportunities in education as their peers across the country. In my short time working at this Title I school, I see how very special, intelligent and determined these kids are, and it is hard knowing that something as simple as not having a pencil is holding them back. Right now, with my limited resources, we have to re-use supplies, such as erasing our work on math problems so that we can use the same lined paper. With these supplies, my kids will finally be able to focus on their learning, without worrying about if they have enough paper to complete a long division problem. It may sound simple, but for my kids having enough paper and pencils is critical to their classroom success. Of course, I will also use the supplies for fun projects, like a weather flip book we're creating and a holiday-themed math worksheet. As of now, all of these supplies are coming out of my own pocket and I could really use the help so that these kids have the engaging learning experience that they deserve.
