Our first unit of study dives into the properties of matter. Concepts such as density and thermal energy are difficult concepts to conceptualize. When English is your second language, it makes it even more difficult. The Density blocks. Our class plans on using these items to demonstrate the concept of density. Students will be able to analyze the data, determine the density, and use that characteristic property to determine what material the block is made from. Melting Ice Blocks Identical looking blocks but one melts ice faster. Students explain why.
