My kids first Project-Based Learning experience this year was to create an Ideal Classroom. We have learned all about traditional classrooms and famous people who never fit into the traditional classroom model. Realizing that we have kids like these in our room, we have worked hard in teams to meet the learning styles of every child. We have interviewed each child in our room and researched how different learning styles thrive. Three of the projects are robotics (a Maker Lab), gaming/coding, and an art studio. With the LEGO WeDo and simple machine sets, an art easel, and Ozobot for coding, my kids will be able to spark their curiosities and passions for a world that normally doesn’t fit into the traditional classroom. However, these are increasingly what they will need in a 21st-century world.
