My students love reading and having new books! Coming from low income households many don't have the privilege of reading daily at home. Having a classroom library with new books lets them know they deserve the best and gives them the opportunity to explore with their imagination. Instilling a love reading early will help to promote literacy skills. Having a variety of different genres and authors will give them inspiration to want to become writers and/or illustrators themselves. Having a library where our books aren't falling apart lets them know how much I value literature and want to pass that on to them.
