We read The Dot by Peter Reynolds each year and would love to be able to also read the companion book Ish to compare and contrast! We love Peter Reynolds books and the students love to find the same characters in each book and find what else is the same and different. It is very "fun-ish" and "fantastic-ish" to compare stories. Help us save trees! We love to use whiteboards everyday to practice spelling words, writing sentences and solving math problems. Not only do we not waste paper, but white boards are really fun to use! And easy to erase! I use a positive behavior system to teach kids responsibility and encourage great behavior. Students earn tickets for meeting expectations for signed homework folders, reading minutes and completing work. They also earn tickets for being kind, helpful, hardworking, quiet and trying their best. They can later use those tickets to buy little prizes or coupons. Trust me when I say, first graders will work hard for little dinosaurs, emoji things, stuffed animals and fidget spinners! Who doesn't love mini toys for pint sized kiddos!
