Distance learning is so "distant" from the kind of learning supports we are able to provide in the Special Day Class environment with aides and special equipment. I miss working directly with my students in our school setting! I would like to supply them and their families with non-screen activities they can work on together during this time, and continue to use over the summer as a part of our Extended School Year (special education summer school). I have selected high-quality hands-on learning activities I am sure my students would enjoy, including: bright, colorful, pleasing sensory, sorting, counting, handwriting, and number work activities. I have considered what will motivate each student the most and encourage self-paced independent learning. These items would support my families by offering them early learning, self-contained activity kits which require little explanation. "Hands-on" is full body and full heart learning for my students.
