I have several performance events in music each year in addition to classroom instrumental experiences. Having adequate instruments for each student would be an exciting experience for me and the students! The students love the challenge of learning to play instruments. Research has proven that learning to play an instrument stimulates the brain and improves critical thinking skills in children. Additionally, these instruments can be used to take students into STEM and STEAM learning by focusing on pitch relationships and the science of sound. The students' use of the instruments will add to the excitement of music and provide opportunities for students to work in groups as well as participate in individual performances during class and school wide performances. Playing the drums and bells to perform rhythms to a steady beat will help cement rhythm/beat concepts while reinforcing music reading skills. Students will be able to participate in rigorous engaging activities utilizing the drums and bells that will motivate them and enhance the music learning experience for each student.
