Active participation and attentiveness for a child means staying focus on new activities and understanding what the teacher wants from them. My project is helping them to learn by themselves, without them realizing that they are going through a learning process. This is demonstrated when they are focusing in an activity, being patient, and being independent. One of my goals as a teacher is instructing my students how to be focused on an activity they are doing; how not to get distracted about what is happening around them. For example, LEGO, puzzles, GeoTix give this opportunity them as they are performing a hands-on activity. Also, circle time is very good practice for them because they have to stay attentive about what other children are saying and remain patient. To listen and wait for their turn to speak is crucial. Doing that in a welcoming oval carpet will assist them in practicing these skills.
