Pitched instruments, such as steel drums and hand bells, help students in learning pitches and intervals, harmony and chords and in reading music. They can also accompany themselves while singing. Rhythm studies are better learned too with pitch. It is much easier to show multi beat notes on instruments then in hand claps. These instruments will bring joy into the lives of my students while learning important musical skills. My students love playing instruments! I try to incorporate instruments in every lesson. As a reward for accomplishing their 5 music goals this nine weeks, I gave each one a choice of a small plastic instrument that they could keep and take home.
