My goal is to inspire readers and to encourage them to excel academically and succeed beyond middle school. It has been proven that the best way to increase reading ability is to read more; to get students to read more they need to have books available that are interesting to them. As a new teacher, my classroom library is pretty small, and my students have zoomed through the few books I have already. Throughout these first few months of school, I have been talking with my students about the books that they are most excited to read. This project will help me build a compelling and relevant classroom library with new books and book cases. This diverse list reflects the eclectic interests my students have and their passion for reading thought-provoking stories. I would love for my students to have an engaging and exciting library; one that will give them great choices during independent reading time and encourage them to recommend these books to their friends!
