My students are focusing on their reading skills this year in order to make sure that they are able to succeed in their other core classes as well as their English class. Three days out of the week we are going to focus on reading with a small group, and we are going to use three different novels. I'm going to the pull groups based on skills that need to be enhanced. Each group will have their own novel which is why I'm choosing three different books. These will be their books which will allow them to write inside the novel, and make notes through-out their reading process. If a student is struggling with reading comprehension, they are going to struggle in every class. I want to prepare the students to succeed not only in school, but in life. The ability to comprehend what you are reading is vital to succeeding in life. A student cannot go through life without the ability to read. If a student is struggling with reading, the student is struggling with every content area and will continue to struggle outside of school. Help me, help my students!
