Studies show that in order to learn we need to move. Many children with special needs have issues related to sensory input and require increased opportunities to move and gain an understanding of body awareness. The Cricut and vinyl adhesive will be used to create a sensory path on a movable floor mat. By having a sensory path available, students gain that extra opportunity to get the movement they need to improve body awareness, eye-hand coordination, motor skills and sequentially, improve their attention during learning opportunities. By walking, jumping and leap frogging through a series of physical activities created by a visual floor path, kids with sensory processing issues can benefit. A sensory path is aimed to give proprioceptive sensory input that helps kids stay calm and regulate their bodies and allowing that built up energy to then be used by their brains!
