The rug is important because we use it over ten times a day. Recently, our used and donated rug had been falling apart (i.e. the stitching became loose) and holding a lot of dirt so I decided that it was time to throw it away. We currently have our whole instruction, teacher-led center, and morning meeting on the tile. This rug also has boxes for seating arrangement, bringing more order to my lessons. I see this front rug as a investment for the remainder of my career! In order to reiterate educational equity, I prefer that my students not bring in mechanical pencils or “pretty” pencils from home. I want everyone to have the same pencils so students don’t fight over the special pencils that look nicer. At the end of every week, I take home all the pencils and manually sharpen them for class. Having this electric pencil sharpener will save time! The pocket chart is essential because I notice that many students do not know how to count to 100. This skill is vital for math, especially as students advance. I plan to use this chart during my morning meeting as we count the days we've been in school, preparing for our highly-anticipated 100th day of school! Finally, this book is needed for every classroom! I plan to read this book during the first week of school to create the understanding of how we treat one another. I want to introduce the terms “Bucket Dipper” and “Bucket Filler," showing effects of each role, and revisiting it throughout the year. Having my own hard copy will make it last longer, and more presentable. I want 20 more “Bucket Fillers” added to society every year that I teach.
