Environmental science is best taught in the environment. My students will have a place to spend time outside and see real food growing. They will be able to learn about nutrients and how important they are for all living organisms in real life, not just from a textbook. This project will allow students to experiment and develop a best practice plan for gardening based upon the USDA Hardiness Zone of our area. Students will host gardening and cooking demonstrations to explain the importance of spending time outside and healthy foods. My students aim to encourage others to make better food choices for them and the environment. The garden plans they create will be distributed to families as a easy and lost cost to guide for gardening.
