The book, Talk to Me, will help to improve the dialogue between teacher and student. In the educational climate, it is important to get the students to talk with you on a deeper level so that they know they are important and you gain a better understanding of each other. Reading is fundamental in many ways; it increases vocabulary and fluency, it can be a window to the past, as well as a door to the future. In reading To Kill a Mockingbird we will focus on figurative language, tolerance for others, and highlight an author from Alabama. The speakers will be used during this also so that the students can hear someone read using a southern dialect. The flexible seating chairs will give the students an alternative place to sit and enjoy a book. It is going to encourage reading in a more relaxed atmosphere.
