My fabulous first graders are eager learners. Unfortunately, many of them have already experienced difficult transitions in their lives. Some are refugees from war and violence, some have experienced numerous moves and are currently living in support shelters for families in transition, some are coping from multiple adverse childhood experiences (ACEs). I am trying to create and maintain a learning space that is safe, structured, and happy. Our class routinely practices strategies to reduce anxiety, increase focus, and apply positive interaction skills. Along with foundational language, reading, and math acquisition, I also make opportunities to for my super scholars to explore the wonders of science, solve engineering puzzles, and produce artistic expressions. Please help me support the learning experiences of these sweet children by funding our projects.
