Students at our High School who haven't participated in band or orchestra in middle school, but want to play music in high school don't have the option to. A guitar class at our High School would give 30 students every semester the chance to learn the fundamentals of music, as well as basic to intermediate guitar skills. Since our High School is located in a low-socioeconomic area, many students don't have a guitar at home, or have the funds to go take private lessons. Many students are also taking care of their siblings, or helping with the family business, so school is one of their only opportunities to develop artistic skills. These students deserve as many opportunities to experience music to help them discover what they love, and bring them joy and satisfaction.

About my class
