We have recently added more technology to the visual arts program. We have a classroom set of touchscreen Chromebooks for doing photo editing, stop motion, video creation, and much more. Our touchscreen Chromebooks are a wonderful addition to the art program, but we also need a classroom set of "mice" in order to use them to their fullest potential. All of my art classes will use these "mice" on a regular basis. Student learning will be enhanced in a wide variety of ways, from editing photos to writing creative self-evaluations at the end of a unit. One example of a project involves a free photo editing program called "Pixlr Editor." Students can check out a digital camera and take photos of their choice. In the art room, they learn how to creatively edit these photos, changing backgrounds, applying filters, creating emphasis, etc. The elements and principles that we study in other areas of art are also applied to their photographic creations. Students are very excited about this creative approach to technology.
