Silver Mesa Elementary has a 1:1 technology goal for our students. We are working hard to not only achieve this goal but to make sure that technology usage is beneficial to students' educational growth. As we continue to focus on early literacy in first grade, students are using interactive software to help them with phonemic awareness and phonics. Phonemic awareness involves students being able to hear and identify sounds. Using headphones with technology will allow students to hear sounds clearly and correctly when using interactive software. If they can hear, say, read and write sounds correctly, it will foster success in literacy across the board.
