Our PE class sizes are relatively large, capping at 42 students/class. This can mean a struggle to find enough space and equipment, so that each student can feel fully involved, and can participate to their greatest ability. With large class sizes, the need for equipment also increases. With more equipment, we can utilize smaller groups, so that each student can participate more fully. This equipment will help to ensure all students have access to the curriculum. One of my goals is to introduce my students to a variety of sports and activities, so that each student will find one sport or activity that they can enjoy for their years to come. With limited space, and equipment, that means we have to be a little more creative. The cones will allow for more fields to be set up for an array of sports, including: soccer, football, rugby, lacrosse, ultimate frisbee, and capture the flag. The jerseys help students to differentiate team members, and encourage cooperation and teamwork. The pop-up goals will allow for better utilization of our space during rainy days, as well as the incorporation of more innovative activities (such as boccer-- a combination between soccer and basketball). The current nets we have for our tennis unit simply cannot accommodate 42 students, so with the addition of this net, more students will be able to play.
