Students are expected to sit and focus often throughout the school day. This is often very difficult for my students and they become fidgety and restless which often then leads to behaviors that excuse them from the group which could result in missed instruction! Flexible seating with wobble stools, floor chairs, and cozy cushions would help students get their movement and remain focused during this important classroom instruction. Giving students options of seating promotes independence, accountability, and helps them discover ways that they can be successful. We would use our flexible seating each and everyday within the classroom. Wobble stools while sitting at tables, cushions that could be used on both the floor or on chairs, and optional floor chairs would provide alternatives for them.
