These materials will help me to teach essential ELA standards for characterization, theme, literary text structure, and to build life-long readers. When I ask students to find this information in their reading books at home, they are so very limited. With this project, I can hand-deliver books to my students to help them finish out the year by reading books with characters who look like them and go through things THEY are going through. This will improve engagement and provide students with the resources they need to learn these essential standards. What better way to do this than through books in hand that are updated, relevant, young adult literature?
