I teach twenty-four eight and nine-year-old students, third grade. We have a very diverse group of students with varying backgrounds, languages and abilities. In my classroom, I have two English Language Learners, two students requiring special education, and twenty-four that require love and attention. The differences of backgrounds don't stop the friendships and learning that is made in the classroom. Seven hours a day for one hundred and eighty days is enough time to spend growing as intellectuals and as humans. We all make mistakes throughout our educational career and recognizing those mistakes displays development. I like to celebrate big and small growth because recognizing student growth lets the students feel successful.
