I am the only full time teacher in my elementary school who doesn't have a Smart Board in their classroom. I enjoy showing my students demonstration of skills they are learning in PE, health lessons, dancing with my littles to videos, and making presentations to my children about sports and other ways to be active and safe in their community. In my current situation, showing something visually on a screen is a challenge. I have to have a clean whiteboard, an old projector that sometimes works but overheats and shuts down often, a laptop plugged into the projector, and a speaker to project the sound where all the children can actively participate, hear, and see. All of this is on a cart so it has to be unplugged and rolled away after every use since it's a tripping hazard. Our special education students attend PE time with their regular ed classmates. Being in a large and loud space with an entire grade level is difficult for them because it is a sensory overload. With only analog clocks in our school, having a large digital clock and timer to have on the TV screen would be beneficial for our special ed kids because they can visually see when transitions or the end of class is coming. The English Language Learners pick up English at a rapid rate but, having visuals allows them to comprehend what is going on around them easier even if they don't understand 100% of our language yet. My student's and I thank you for your consideration.
