Currently my students have to sit on the floor when we gather for lessons or class meetings and when they want to spread out during independent work time. My students would love to have a cozy carpet to sit on when we gather together as a class. My class loves to spread out during independent reading, writing, and math time. They can often be seen curled up in the class library reading a book or sitting with a friend to write. Since teaching with a workshop approach, I have noticed an increased engagement and productivity in my students. When working with a small group, I love looking out at my class and seeing them all engaged in literacy and math activities.
