My students will be studying Romeo and Juliet. I’ve paired Shakespeare’s tragic story with an unconventional story in Warm Bodies and a tragic love story in the Fault in Our Stars. Students will choose a book for independent study alongside our classroom study of Romeo and Juliet. In Warm Bodies, R is not like other zombies. In this post apocalyptic tale, he saves Julie, daughter of the leader of an anti-zombie army, from being devoured by other zombies and falls in love with her. In The Fault in Our Stars, inspired by Shakespeare’s Julieus Caesar, follows a young girls journey with terminal cancer and a friend she meets in a support group.
