Technology is becoming more important in schools. Many students still do not have access to computers or the internet in their homes and are not exposed to technology until later in life. As a second grade teacher, I see that many students are engaged and excited about learning when any form of technology is involved. Technology can enhance the way students engage with academic content. Students can do research on other places in the world such as Africa and Japan, create clay animation movies to describe life cycles, write and design their own comics and more if they have the resources. These are just a few examples of how my students will use these Chromebooks. There are many ways to put technology into math and reading rotations. Students who may need more support in reading can listen to stories being read and gain prosody and fluency by listening to experienced readers. Students can be immersed in another world that allows them to fight tiny monsters, but not before they solve the latest math problem! Chromebooks would open a world of possibilities to my students this year and for years to come. I know that they will be engaged and excited with the opportunities this technology would provide to our classroom.
