My 16 pre-kindergarten students (age 3 and 4) are wonderful, energetic, enthusiastic, and creative learners. Our community is great, but we are in a low income school in Washington DC, and we are still lacking some necessary materials. Young children learn through hands on experiences, play, and authentic discoveries made with teachers and peers. We have the determination and the interest, but we need to have the resources to make our learning meaningful! My students are very excited to learn about our garden - especially about the bugs in the garden, and they are eager to explore as much as they can. They areThe resources that I have requested are sure to inspire my children to dig deeper with their questioning, research, and learning. Using the "root vue farm" and "greenhouse", we will be able to have plants growing in our classroom on those days that we can't get over to the school garden, and they will be accessible to students at all times during the day. The students will be able to observe change, and even be able to observe roots and carrots growing underground with these materials! wonderfully capable children, and I am confident that they will be as appreciative as me if we can get the materials for our garden project.
