Recently our small district experienced a population boom that has brought many new students into our wonderful school. In fact, my classroom is the newest addition to our school's first grade team because there was such a large influx of first grade students. The growing number of students has left our classroom strapped for independent and guided reading materials to accommodate the diverse learners we have in and out of my classroom. Not only will donating to this project give my diverse group of readers the leveled books they need to foster their love and interest in reading, but it will also give me the ability to develop important reading skills in my students that they will use for the rest of their lives. Specifically, I plan to use these leveled readers to help with my instruction in differentiated guided reading groups and also use these materials as independent reading resources for my students in the form of Book Bags and material for my Daily Five reading rotations.
