By having these materials, I can do a classroom transformation. The classroom transformation will excite the students for the lesson before they even enter the room. For the "Spy Lab" I plan to wind the white yarn all around the room like laser beams and with the black lights, they will glow! As students determine the Main Idea, they unlock a secret code. Our secret codes will be recorded with permanent marker on post-its. Students then combine the secret codes to solve the mystery. This will be a lesson they will never forget! We will also be doing a "Circus" theme, "Harry Potter" theme, and an "Under the Sea" theme just to name a few. The themes make learning the skills more engaging and therefore encourage greater participation and results.
