Novel studies give students the resources and tools to dig deeper into a book and develop those critical thinking skills. Having enough books for each child to hold, read, and follow along makes these studies so much more interactive. When a child is able to hold the book they are reading or working through it keeps there minds focused on the setting, the characters, and the plot. Adding the tactile support of a physical book is also beneficial for some readers. The memory retention is higher if they are able to read it themselves or follow along. This set of books will be placed in the literacy closet to enrich minds for years to come. My students need a class set of "Masters of Disaster" by author Gary Paulsen. We are wanting to do a fiction novel study using this book.
