My students need a large learning carpet to foster a love for reading in our second grade classroom. The carpet will allow students to do independent reading activities, paired reading activities, as well as group shared reading. The students will also be using the carpet for interactive learning on the Smart Board. At present, my students are sitting on a cold, hard floor. Students will gather here during math lessons. They will also use the rug for our class sharing time during writing. This rug will provide a comfortable space for them to learn and grow in knowledge. I want to encourage my reluctant readers to build a positive relationship with reading and a comfortable environment is the first step.
