Currently, much of the reading we do in this course is through an outdated anthology and involves reading short stories or excerpts. Incorporating these two novels, excellent pieces of world literature, will be of immense personal benefit to these kinds. The lessons and ideas they extract from them could impact their worldview for a lifetime. We need multiple copies of The Hungry Tide: A Novel and Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood which will provide my students more exposure to books that will help broaden their worldview and to help in exposing them to different points of view and experiences. Reading more engaging texts like Persepolis and The Hungry Tide will give students reading experiences they have not yet had in our school. I believe that to get to live the lives of the characters in Persia/Iran and India through these novels will have tremendous impact on the course students.
