The school I teach in is located in a suburban commuter community in the Bay Area. Many of my students live in homes where both parents commute out of the area for work. This leaves little time for trips to art museums, time to explore art materials, or time to learn about different artists. Very few students come from homes where a variety of visual arts are taught, experienced, or appreciated. This makes the need for the experience in my classroom crucial.
