These cool, awesome, educational materials and toys will help motivate my students every day. I have a couple of students who are "early finishers," and my plan is to make STEM bins that they can use after they finish their work. In order to do that I will need LEGO's, double-sided assorted geo boards, magnetic building blocks, and tinker toys. These items are perfect because my students will have a blast using their imagination, but they'll be engaged while learning Mathematics, Science and some engineering. Each of the STEM bins will contain a task card. Each task card will have written instructions so students know what they have to build. Since the majority of my students are English Language learners, it is essential for them to develop literacy. Therefore, I need these interactive games like magnetic letters, Rory's Story Cubes, and "Snap It Up!" to help them with phonics and become great writers. My 2nd grade students struggle with spelling. In order to help them with our weekly spelling words I plan on using the magnetic letters in literacy stations. In this station, students will practice spelling using the magnetic words. I also want to use "Snap it Up!" in stations as well, so students can develop phonics and reading skills. I am really excited for my students to play with "Rory's Story Cubes." These cubes will enhance my students imagination and assist them on writing. Students have to write EVERYDAY, so you can imagine that they can run out of ideas of what to write. These story cubes will challenge them because they have to write a brief story about the images/drawings they see in the cubes.
