Last week, I observed a class in a different school in which the teacher used an iPad Pro to write down his observations as students were working. This enabled him to provide individualized feedback and get a clearer picture of students' day-to-day work. This is the experience I want to provide for my students: a highly individualized learning program which is tailored for their needs and interests. I strongly believe in a differentiated and flipped classroom. By funding an Acer Chromebook for me, you will be allowing my students to discover their learning and take ownership of their success. My school uses Standards-Based Grading, in which students are assessed on how they are meeting specific learning targets. Informal assessment during class is a key component of understanding the full picture of students' progress. Additionally, it allows students to feel less pressure and is much more subtle than a grade on a piece of paper. The informal feedback can also be quickly translated by my English Language Learners, which will greatly aid me in providing for their language needs.
