Having a shared space to gather on a carpet with individual spaces will give each student a chance to build relationships with their peers. When we gather on the floor every student is given the opportunity to share ideas and participate in discussions. The donations to this project will give my students a safe space to communicate with their peers and teacher. We spend a lot of time learning on the carpet. Students participate in interactive read alouds, number talks, movement activities, and social/emotional learning activities on the classroom rug. All of my students will benefit from a new classroom rug!
