Having an IPad in the classroom would benefit the students in many different ways. First, it would be used along with a library app to organize and track the books. Right now the class uses a paper check in/out system. This system is very time consuming and wastes paper. Having the IPad would cut back on check out time because the students would just need to select their name then scan the book. Easy as pie! The Ipad would save a few trees also, as we would no longer need a paper check in/out log. Yay to going green! Second, the IPad can be used for educational games and activities. There are so many interactive online games and apps that we could utilize in the classroom. Students could play in pairs, individually, or as a group. Last, the IPad could be used for teacher planning, grading, and tracking. Our school only has desktop computers, so all work needs to be done in the classroom. This is sometimes hard as our specials (prep time) are held in our classrooms as well. It is hard to focus when the class is doing music or art. The IPad can be taken to the teachers lounge where I can enter grades, plan the next weeks lesson, or respond to parent emails. This tool would greatly benefit out classroom in so many ways!
