Having a variety of books to add to my classroom library will greatly benefit my students. During D.E.A.R time (Drop Everything and Read) each day, students read the book of their choice independently. Students are more likely to enjoy reading when they have more choices. There are many fun and engaging titles to choose from including, the Harry Potter series, The Boxcar Children, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid. "A child who reads will be an adult who thinks." It's a fact that students who read 20 minutes a day will learn 1,800,000 words per year. That's amazing! Besides learning new words/vocabulary, students will increase their reading and comprehension levels. I want all my students to experience the benefits of reading and grow to be lifelong readers!
