In my classroom,​ my students work together in groups daily. Student discourse is very effective and important as it is planned purposefully and thoughtfully. The first step is to arrange students so they are able to engage one with another more easily. I find having tables rather than desks eliminates the amount of wasted time and distractions that come with having students constantly getting in and out of their desks throughout the day. Tables will also provide for a more organized classroom and free up some space around the room for students to work independently, in partners, and in groups.
