In a classroom of 21 students, over half will ask to stand at different times during the day. Many students need movement to help them focus on heir work and to be comfortable in class. I know as an adult, I do not learn well when I have to sit for long periods of time. How can I expect my students to do something that I can't do? Movement in the classroom is needed and I want to provide a room that will ensure all students are comfortable and learning . When students need to stand or pace, it can be disruptive to the classroom. Using stability balls will allow the students movements without disruption. Stability balls will also help teach responsibility to the students. Rules for bouncing and taking care of the balls will help the students to show some self-control and responsibility. Several teacher friends have told me that stability balls are a benefit in the classroom.
